Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP)

This program supports novel, innovative and interdisciplinary basic research focused on the complex mechanisms of living organisms, with emphasis on novel international collaborations that bring biologists together with scientists from various fields such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science and engineering to focus on problems at the frontier of the life sciences.

1) Research Grants – Program (RG-Program)
Awarded to teams of 2 – 4 independent researchers from different countries at any stage of their careers.
The research team is expected to develop new lines of research through a new collaboration.
Priority will be given to new, innovative research projects and teams including members from outside the life sciences.

2) Research Grants – Early Career (RG-Early Career) (Formerly named as “Young Investigators’ Grants”)
Awarded to teams of researchers, all of whom are within the first five years after obtaining an independent laboratory and no longer than 10 years after obtaining their first doctoral degree (PhD, MD or equivalent).

Duration of project

3 years

Amount of grant

$300,000 (for a team of 2) to $500,000 (for a team of 4 or more members) per year, fixed sum

KURA’s support

A. providing with information on the program/open calls (including materials of the past seminars)
B. consultation with URA on a research plan (including forming an interdisciplinary/international group)
C. review of the application forms (both letters of intent and the full application form)

Deadlines

i. Compulsory initiation of a Letter of Intent by obtaining a reference number by March 24th 2022
ii. Submission of the Letter of Intent by March 31st 2022
