09.13 (Mon)2021

Kyoto University Research Administration Office (KURA) held the online “Coffee break with KAKENHI applicants” on September 3 and 8, 2021. Targeting international researchers at Kyoto University, these online meetings served as an opportunity for them to share questions and concerns and mutually support each other in applying for KAKENHI. It was the third series of networking events held by KURA this year, and 8 researchers participated over two days.

Dr. Amit BANERJEE, Junior Associate Professor, Graduate School of Engineering , who is a past awardee of KAKENHI joined the meetings and responded to questions from the participants, while KURA contributed through sharing related useful information on KAKENHI. The participants had more specific questions than during the KAKENHI seminars held annually including tips for writing “ability to conduct research” and the budget section in the KAKENHI proposal. In addition, Dr. BANERJEE and the participants discussed other external funding opportunities than KAKENHI and research activities in general. An active discussion among researchers continued until the end of the event.

The planning, public relations and a moderator were done by SASAKI Yu URA in cooperation with other members of International Researchers Support Team (SAITO Chisato URA, OYAMADA Aya URA, KUWATA Osamu URA, NISHIDA Miya Administration Staff, UEMURA Ayana Administrative Staff). KURA will continue to make efforts to create an environment for international researchers to maximize their research capabilities through organizing English events, providing proposal review services and so on.
